Hiram Dickinson, APRN

College: University of South Florida – Nurse Practitioner

Graduate Nurse Practitioner School:

Why did you go into medicine?

It was a practical decision for me. I had a job I liked but it was going nowhere. I thought about nursing and agreed that I would stop if I encountered something that didn’t agree with me. I enjoyed the learning experience every step of the way.

Was there any key person, milestone, or pivotal moment that helped you become who you are as a provider?

My mother was admitted to the hospital and had to deal with nursing and medical staff. Made me adjust my practice. I’m much more empathic now.

Reflecting on your career, what has been the most rewarding part?

The people I work with. Always that.

Why did you choose to work at Leggett Medical Group?

Gave me the opportunity to be with my patients the way I wanted. I could spend the time with my patients.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Tai chi and absolutely nothing.
