About Dr. Karen Leggett
A native of Florida, Dr Karen Leggett graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. After completing a Family Medicine Residency at her alma mater, she then completed a fellowship in Geriatrics at Florida Hospital, Orlando, followed by a fellowship with the American Academy of Anti-Aging in Metabolic and Functional Medicine.
Dr Leggett started Leggett Medical Group in 2003 and has practiced in multiple modalities including private office practice, hospital and hospice medicine, skilled nursing, assisted living, and home care for home-bound patients.
She has provided hundreds of lectures to both physicians and the public as well as provided both clinical and didactic training to medical students at Florida State School of Medicine and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. In addition, she has trained nurse practitioners in her private yearlong Functional Medicine fellowships and mentorships. She was awarded a best-selling authorship award through co-authorship with Brian Tracy, one of Dr. Leggett’s personal mentors.
In addition to caring for all primary care medical conditions, Dr. Leggett has expertise in managing the unique complications associated with aging. She has devoted herself to helping patients recover from acute medical illness, improve their current state of health, while slowing down the natural process of aging so that they can feel and BE younger and more vibrant.
In addition to utilizing the best that Conventional Western medicine has to offer, Dr Leggett uses multiple holistic modalities of Functional Medicine including nutrition, nutraceuticals, herbal tinctures, CBD oil, bioidentical hormones, essential oils, meditation, as well as working closely with additional health care professionals supporting modalities such as physical and occupational therapy, massage, acupuncture, and counseling.
Dr Leggett is also an avid blogger, and through her Women’s Midlife Website, Facebook site, and YouTube channel, she helps thousands of Midlife Women safely and effectively transition through the confusing times of midlife hormone change.
Now with the launching of Leggett Medical Website and Facebook site, her extensive Blogs and an additional Leggett Medical YouTube channel, both men and women can benefit from discovering more about their medical conditions and how to manage the unique challenges most of us may encounter as we move through and beyond our midlife years.
In addition to Dr. Leggett’s goal to educate and empower others to take good care of themselves, and her immense joy and ability to naturally connect with people to help them improve their health and happiness, is to bring together talented health professionals who share similar values and ideas as herself in order to offer ongoing impeccable medical care. By bringing talented health professionals together, Leggett Medical Group can accomplish far more as a team than Dr. Leggett could accomplish alone.
Over the years, her team has grown to include Dr. Catherine O’connell M.D., who has holistically cared for patients for more than 40 years in her own private practice, along with three amazing nurse practitioners, equally dedicated to the care of others, Rhonda Holb APRN, Hiram Dickinson APRN, and Leah Lange APRN.
